How to Delete Your Account
You can request account deletion in two ways:
- In-app settings (recommended): Go to your Account settings and select "Delete Account" if this option is available.
- Email request: Send an email to support@abuzzlist.com with the subject "Account Deletion Request" and include:
- Your account email address
- A clear statement that you want to delete your account
- Confirmation that you understand this action is permanent
Deleting your account will permanently remove your profile, listings, messages, and associated data. This cannot be undone.
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize the following data:
- Account information: Profile data, display name, email address, phone number, and authentication credentials
- Your listings: All listings you've posted, including images and descriptions
- Messages: All messages in your inbox and sent messages
- Saved content: Saved searches, saved listings, boards, and saved storefronts
- Storefronts: Any storefronts you've created
- Notifications and preferences: Notification settings and account preferences
- Subscription data: PRO subscription information (active subscriptions will be canceled)
- Billing information: Payment methods and billing customer records
- User-generated content: Reviews, endorsements you've given or received, and other user-generated content
What May Be Retained
Certain data may be retained for legal, accounting, or compliance purposes, as permitted or required by law:
- Legal and compliance records: Data required for fraud prevention, tax reporting, accounting, security investigations, or legal disputes
- Backups and system logs: Personal information may remain in backups and system logs for a limited period. Backups are purged on a rolling schedule, and any remaining copies are automatically removed when the backup lifecycle expires
- Aggregated or de-identified data: We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that cannot be used to identify you
- Endorsements you received: Endorsements left by other users may be retained in anonymized form to maintain the integrity of the trust system
Where data retention is required, we limit use and access to the retained data to the stated purposes only. We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information during the retention period.
Deletion Timeline
After you request account deletion:
- Immediate: Your account will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to sign in
- Within 30 days: We will delete or anonymize your personal information from our active systems
- Backup cleanup: Data in backups will be removed when those backups are purged according to our backup retention schedule
Before You Delete
Consider these steps before deleting your account:
- Save important information: Download or screenshot any listings, messages, or data you want to keep
- Complete active transactions: Finish any pending sales or purchases before deletion
- Cancel subscriptions: If you have an active PRO subscription, cancel it before deleting your account (or contact support if you need help)
- Export your data: While we don't currently offer a data export feature, you can manually save any information you need
Active Subscriptions
If you have an active PRO subscription:
- Your subscription will be canceled when your account is deleted
- You will retain access until the end of your current billing period
- Refunds are handled according to our Terms of Service
